Benefits of Credit Fixation Under the Kisan Credit Cars Scheme:

The fixation of the credit limit under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme offers several key benefits:

  1. Ensures Adequate Credit: It guarantees the farmer a clear, pre-sanctioned Maximum Permissible Limit (MPL), ensuring adequate and timely access to funds for their agricultural cycle.
  2. Covers Comprehensive Needs: The limit of calculation incorporates expenses for crop cultivation, post-harvest costs, consumption, and long-term investment credit.
  3. Accounts for Inflation: It includes an annual notional hike (typically 10%) to adjust for cost escalation in farming operations over the five-year tenure.
  4. Simplifies Accounting: It mandates the bifurcation of the limit into short-term cash credit and term loan sub-limits for operational ease and distinct interest/repayment applications.
  5. Facilitates Subsidy Access: Separate sub-limits allow for the proper application of government benefits like interest subvention on short-term crop loans.
  6. Provides Drawing Flexibility: The farmer can utilize the short-term cash credit limit at their convenience to match the financial needs of their proposed cropping pattern.
